Award recognizes exceptional service to the field radiation oncology

Dr. Naomi R. Schechter
[DELRAY BEACH, Fl., July 11, 2025] — Dr. Naomi Schechter, a radiation oncologist at the South Florida Proton Therapy Institute, was selected as a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (FASTRO), the world’s largest professional organization in radiation oncology. Dr. Schechter will be recognized at ASTRO’s 67th Annual Meeting in San Francisco on Tuesday, September 30.
“Dr. Schechter joins an elite group of just 43 physicians, physicists and cancer biologistswho are recognized this year for their far-reaching contributions to the field of radiation oncology and their progress in advancing research, education and patient care,” said Howard M. Sandler, MD, FASTRO, Chair of the ASTRO Board of Directors. “ASTRO proudly recognizes these achievements and congratulates Dr. Schechter for being named an ASTRO Fellow.”
First awarded in 2006, the FASTRO designation honors ASTRO members who have made significant contributions to the Society and the field through research, education, patient care and dedicated service. Only 541 of ASTRO’s 10,000 members worldwide have received this distinction.
